From Portugal, With Love

From Michelin Star Restaurant, Adega, comes Pasteleria. Our love child bakery. But the story goes back much further than that!

Owner, Fernanda’s parents emigrated from the Island of Faial Açores in December of 1970 with her and her 3 siblings, she was 3 yrs old.

Owner, Carlos moved to the US in 1988 to go to college, he was 20 yrs old. This is when Fernanda and him met.

Only 5 years later, Chef Jessica was born in San Jose, California.

Chef Jessica graduated from the “Le Cordon Bleu” in Pasadena in 2012 and went to Portugal to do her internship and stayed there for 3 years. There she worked in many fine dining Michelin starred restaurants and is where she met David Costa, our executive chef. This is where the ideas to open up a restaurant began.

2012

Chef David moves to America and Adega opens it’s doors with Chef David and Jessica and in only 10 months, we received our first Michelin Star.

2015

We started a pop up for Pasteis de Nata and Bolas de Berlim (malasadas) in April of 2019 at ADEGA and it was so popular that we decided to find a location to open a bakery where we could sell more of the great pastries that we have in Portugal.

By November we opened up Pastelaria.

2019

March of 2020 we had to close shop (like the rest of the world)

When we could, we opened Pastelaria up again for pickup orders only and stayed open through the pandemic.

Adega stayed closed from March 2020 to May 2021 when we reopened for indoor dining again.

In November of 2020 we took a leap of faith and opened up Petiscos, our casual dining restaurant. With no way of knowing how the world was going to go, we decided to go for it anyways in hopes of being able to serve our community more of our delicious food, which was all outdoor seating for some time.

Petiscos get’s added to the Michelin guide and our businesses are thriving more than ever.

After a decade of preparation, we are so thankful to be where we are at now.
